Make a difference

Volunteers are central to the work of the Sunshine Charity. We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic and talented new people to help us in a variety of ways, from running sessions online or in local communities, being a befriender, helping us raise funds or doing the behind-the-scenes work that makes us an effective team. You’d be joining volunteers from a diverse range of backgrounds and sectors, with different skills and experiences, who are really making a difference.

Current VOLUNTEER Vacancies 

Befriending Coordinator

​

We’re looking for a volunteer with experience in befriending or other related area, who is committed and dedicated and who has excellent communication skills, empathy and a caring nature, to take on a brand-new voluntary role at Sunshine as our Befriending Coordinator (Volunteer) who can help us make a difference by providing the much-needed human connection missing in people’s lives, providing active listening and befriending to those who need it.

This role is based in London at our offices in EC3N, with opportunities for some remote based volunteering available.

​

You will coordinate our befriending activities and befriending volunteers at Sunshine, including our Telephone, Online and Face to Face Groups, Drop-Ins and 1-2-1 befriending appointment sessions. 

​

You will get to use motivational interviewing techniques and other solution focused methods, to bring the best out of those suffering from loneliness and social isolation while being the ‘sunshine’ needed in people’s lives.

​

We need a volunteer to take up the challenge of this multifaceted role for approx. 6 to 8 hours per week. This role is flexible and can be done during the daytime, evenings and/or weekends, however you must provide some flexibility as you will be coordinating volunteers volunteering anytime between 10am and 9pm, as well as having training, meetings and other organisational activities that will occasionally need you to attend.

A current DBS Check is desirable but not essential.

Volunteer Coordinator​​

​

We’re looking for a volunteer with experience in volunteer management or other related area, who is committed and dedicated and who has excellent communication skills, empathy and a caring nature, to take on a brand-new voluntary role at Sunshine as our Volunteer Coordinator (Volunteer) who can help us make a difference by creating and coordinating our volunteer programme, allowing us to provide excellent volunteering opportunities in a fully team spirited environment where we value and care about our volunteers.

​​

This role is based in London at our offices in EC3N, with opportunities for some remote based volunteering available.

​

You will coordinate our volunteering activities and volunteers at Sunshine, creating our volunteer programme and ensuring that all our volunteers are valued, supported, motivated and engaged in a wide range of volunteer opportunities within the charity.

​

This includes leading on the recruitment, selection and induction of volunteers, carrying out safer recruitment onboarding tasks, keeping our volunteers updated, informed and engaged while fully motivated and recognising the achievements being made.

​​​

We need a volunteer to take up the challenge of this multifaceted role for approx. 6 to 8 hours per week. This role is flexible and can be done during the daytime, evenings and/or weekends, however you must provide some flexibility as you will be coordinating volunteers volunteering anytime between 10am and 9pm, as well as having training, meetings and other organisational activities that will occasionally need you to attend.

Fundraising Volunteers

​

We are seeking experienced volunteers who will help us in our fundraising efforts to generate much needed income for the charity, to ensure we can continue our work. Over the last 8 months we have been working very hard to help those who need our help, working with over 343 people living with loneliness and social isolation on very minimum budget, imagine what we can do with funding. 

​

We need volunteers to help us in any of the following areas:

  1. Planning and organising fundraising activities and events.

  2. Writing Grants/Funding Bids.

  3. Creating Crowdfunding Campaigns.

  4. Contacting businesses to seek in kind with items that help us run or that we can use as raffle prizes or that help us fundraise.

  5. Contacting Corporates for Sponsorship or CSR support or Donations.

  6. Attending street, station or store collections.

  7. Running stall at events.

  8. Sharing your own fundraising ideas to help us generate the needed income we need to run.

  9. Other fundraising activities.

Communications Officer​​

​

We’re looking for a volunteer with experience in communications/PR or other related area, who is committed and dedicated and who has excellent communication skills, empathy and a caring nature, to take on a brand-new voluntary role at Sunshine as our Communications Officer (Volunteer) who can help us make a difference by creating huge interest in the Sunshine Charity, by creating a real buzz and energy, showcasing and promoting our charity, telling our story, highlighting the effects of loneliness and social isolation, highlighting our impact and being our Chief Storyteller.

This role is based in London at our offices in EC3N, with opportunities for some remote based volunteering available.

​

You will coordinate our internal and external communications activities, including our social media, internal/external newsletters, writing articles and posts, blogs/vlogs and helping us to create a greater and wider presence in London and the UK.

​​

We need a volunteer to take up the challenge of this multifaceted role for approx. 2 to 4 hours per week. This role is flexible and can be done during the daytime, evenings and/or weekends, however you must provide some flexibility for training, meetings and other organisational activities that will occasionally need you to attend.

​

A current DBS Check is desirable but not essential.
